I’m still trying to figure out what to do next.

It’s been two weeks since I got laid off from my last job. I could’ve started searching for a new job, but I don’t feel like it. Honestly I don’t think I’ll be going back to doing office work ever again.

I want to live my life without thinking too much about work emails, meetings, preparing documentations and release notes, but at the same time I want to start making money.

I see there are a lot of things I can do out there… both online and offline. So many ways to make money.

I have some ideas and I am currently exploring each one. I have yet to decide which one to choose and focus on.

I have watched some Youtube videos that suggest having multiple interests instead of pouring everything into a single niche is a good thing, but I’m not sure if I have energy, resources, and desire to juggle so many things at once.

Am I rushing? In a way, yes. I still have savings and I will receive the compensation money at the end of this month, but I don’t want to enjoy so much and struggle later. I need to get myself prepared for the upcoming low days.

Talking about preparing for the worst, there is a Malay idiom that addresses it:

Sediakan payung sebelum hujan

In English, it means we should get an umbrella ready before the rain.

You can take it in a literal or figurative sense. You can grab an umbrella before the rain starts pouring, or you can take precautions to prevent accidents or any inconvenience.

That’s the beauty of language. Each language in this world has its own grammar, vocabulary, words and expressions that can mean different things, and a way to represent a group of people.

I will do further brainstorming sessions offline. No spoilers or leaks for now. You will know when I tell you. Cheers!

With warmth and a lot of thoughts and feelings, Nurul.
